There are different ways to pay for your purchases online. Popular ones are a credit card, bank transfers, debit cards and lately, using cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. But have you ever wondered if you can pay for anything online with a checking account or with a check?
Checks or paying using checks has been around since forever but no one seems to use this to pay for any purchases online. However, not everyone knows that they can use their checking account to pay for a variety of products online. Here are seven ways to Shop Online with Checking Account Number.
Ways to Shop Online with Checking Account Number
1. Shop at Amazon.com pay using your checking account number
If you don’t have a credit card, you can still shop at Amazon.com by using your ACH-enabled US personal checking account. You need to make some changes in your payment option first. From the Shipment & Payment option screen, click Add a checking account. Enter your bank routing number or your ABA code and enter your Account number. This should be an ACH-enabled checking account from a bank located in the US. Just enter the name and address of the account holder and enter a valid driver’s license number or any state-issued ID number plus the issuing state.
Remember, this must be a personal checking account and not a savings, corporate or business bank account. After you are done, you will receive a message that the changes you have made have been saved and you are ready to shop. If you have questions about using a checking account number at Amazon.com, contact the store’s customer service.
2. Use paper check by mail
Although this is a long shot, some stores may also allow their customers to purchase their products by using a paper check. What happens is that you will need to send your paper check through the mail. Once this check has been received by the company and processed, your order may be processed and shipped.
QVC, a popular clothing apparel brand, lets you shop from their online stores using paper check by mail. At checkout, choose the “Check/Money Order” option. You will be given an address where you will mail your check to. Your paper check should be received within 10 days of placing your order or this will be canceled.
3. Using an eCheck or electronic check to shop online
An eCheck or electronic check is accepted by some clothing, shoes and houseware shops online. This is making payments directly from your checking account using EFT or electronic funds transfer either as bank transfer or an eCheck.
The process is simple; you will need to enter your checking account number and your bank’s routing number at checkout rather than using your credit card or debit card number. By doing this, you are initiating a funds transfer which will happen quickly between your bank to the company’s bank.

A few safety reminders when shopping online using your checking account number
As with all methods of payment, you must be wary about your safety when shopping online. You may place your banking information at risk if you are unsure about what you are doing. To ensure safety, always ask any question especially about payment. Confirm your questions from the shopping site’s customer service hotline (phone, chat or email).
You must never overlook your safety so as much as possible, use safer online payment options like PayPal, credit card or cash if COD is allowed. Have a copy of your receipt or online receipt always so you can dispute any payments made if there are problems with your purchases.
